Pecho Coast Trail Reservations
The Pecho Coast Trail is accessed by traveling through Avila Beach and parking at the Port San Luis Harbor parking lot located at the base of the pier. Driving Directions (pdf)
The trail to the Point San Luis Lighthouse is open to 20 hikers on Wednesday and 40 hikers on Saturdays with a departure time of 9 AM.
Reservations are strongly encouraged to avoid being turned away at the trailhead. Reservations need to be made two weeks in advance of the hike. For information regarding the 7.4 mile roundtrip hike to rattlesnake canyon and for information regarding special group hikes, please call 541-TREK
The hike is moderately strenuous with uneven terrain.
To obtain your reservation, please fill out the information below and bring your signed release form to the trailhead on the day of the hike.
At the Lightstation, an admission fee of $5 per adult, with $10 charge for a family, will be required of those accessing the Lighthouse Headkeeper's quarters tour. The balance of the site and buildings can be visited at no charge. Children under 12 are free. This fee supports the work of the Point San Luis Lighthouse Keepers' restoring, maintaining, and operating visitor services at this Historic Site.
Please note that hikes will not go out during rainy or inclement weather.
